Eight weeks ago, we kicked off summer with a bang by launching Simantel’s first-ever official paid internship program. Five talented students joined our team in the inaugural Class of Summer 2023. Each worked with teams in their specific area of interest across the agency and was paired with a mentor for one-on-one guidance and support.
A mix of work, and of course fun, our interns experienced the “ish” that makes Simantel, Simantel. From working side-by-side with Simantelites on client projects to special activities like lunch with the owners, meeting interns at other Advertising and Marketing Independent Network (AMIN) Worldwide agencies and an outing at Dozer Park, it’s been a busy few weeks. Oh, and we can’t forget the regular monthly activities too like dessert day, new employee breakfasts, yoga, a bags tournament and trivia and board game nights. We’re proud of the work our interns accomplished and loved making them part of our team.
Meet Our Summer Interns
Simantel’s paid internship program matches students pursuing a marketing/advertising major (or other relevant coursework) with teams at our Peoria, IL office to work in-person around their class schedule. Members of the Class of Summer 2023 are: Maddy Day, Joshua Messenger, Emily Gillis, Thomas Nora and Peyton Orrico.
Maddy Day, Graphic Design Intern
“Hey! I’m Maddy, the graphic design intern at Simantel for the summer. I just graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design from Illinois State in June. I am a huge music person and love shopping for and collecting records. I also love to crochet and throw pottery when I can get my hands on it! I am beyond thankful to be able to join this team for the summer and learn from the best!”
Joshua Messenger, Media Buying Intern
“Hello, I’m Joshua Messenger, and I’m a media buying intern here at Simantel! Originally from Philadelphia, I moved to the Peoria area to go to school at Bradley University. I’m pursuing a sports communication major with a minor in advertising. I love watching my Philly sports teams, going for a run, and broadcasting local sports around central Illinois. I’m excited to be an intern this summer and work with the Simantel team!”
Emily Gillis, Client Services Intern
“Hi! I’m Emily, a new Client Services Intern at Simantel! I am a graduate student at Olivet Nazarene University and have my bachelor’s in marketing and Spanish. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, drawing, and anything Disney related. I’m excited to be a part of the team and learn at Simantel!”
Tom Nora, Client Services Intern
“Hi! I’m Tom Nora, a client services intern here at Simantel. I’m from Hoffman Estates, Illinois and attend Bradley University. I’m studying Advertising & Public Relations while also minoring in Marketing. Outside of work, I’m very passionate about music and love exploring old tunes from the past. Occasionally, I’ll try to play them on my guitar, too. I also enjoy hanging with friends and family whenever the opportunity presents itself. I look forward to gaining real experience from working at a marketing agency.”
Peyton Orrico, Client Services Intern
“Hi! I am Peyton Orrico, and I am a summer Client Services Intern! I grew up in the Peoria area and I am currently a student at Bradley University. Outside of work and school I love to spend time outside playing volleyball or pickleball!”
As our summer interns head out the door, we thank them for their contributions and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
