In June 2020, it was announced in an all-employee meeting that Simantel was starting up an employee-led Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee and we needed someone to lead the effort. Megan quickly approached HR and ownership and wanted nothing more than to make her impact on more than just the work at Simantel. She was passionate about creating an environment where everyone can be themselves as humans and we are respecting all perspectives. Which is why Megan is the perfect person to co-chair the committee.
You’ll hear Megan talk about what drove her to volunteer for the position and the challenges faced in the beginning. While now just two year later, the DEI committee has made so much progress and is already doing big things – like Simantel’s Diverse Minds Scholarship. Megan has been instrumental in educating the agency on DEI topics, creating a platform for deeper conversations within our walls and carrying that impact into our community. Building a strong culture is paramount to success in the workplace – but more importantly, Megan’s work as the DEI committee’s co-chair allows her to live out her personal values. We couldn’t be more thankful for all of Megan’s hard work to instill a DEI lens at Simantel, in our community and in our society.
