What do a robot and Simantel associate creative director Jake Beyhl have in common? They both traveled to Washington D.C. to promote Caterpillar’s participation in the USA Science & Engineering Festival.
About the Festival
The USA Science & Engineering Festival is an effort to promote STEM education: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This year included a new focus on skilled labor. Caterpillar was an official sponsor of the mikeroweWORKS pavillion, highlighting the importance of the skilled trades. The third annual event showed children how exciting a career in engineering or the trades could be.
Mike Rowe, in a continued collaboration with Caterpillar, was on hand to talk about how skilled trade workers build the world, and to endorse the Cat technician recruitment program.
Engineering Fun
Simantel helped design the Caterpillar exhibit, which featured simulations that let visitors test out driving a mining truck and loader. The space also had an arm wrestling machine that taught students about torque and force.
Attendees had the chance to see their face on the cover of a Cat Technician magazine, thanks to a special photobooth, and could share their personalized cover out on social media channels. The exhibit also had iPad give-aways and even a robot to race around a track for the best time.
In addition to Jake, cinematographer Antwan Flowers was on the scene, capturing this memorable Caterpillar experience:
