With warmer weather just around the corner, Peoria’s outdoor running community will soon double in size (many runners take their workouts indoors during the chilly winter temperatures, and we don’t blame them!).

Several Simantelites are among those people looking forward to lacing up their running shoes and hitting the pavement. And, in the true sense of teamwork, employees have begun motivating each other to sign up for upcoming local races together—including the Friends of the Children of Haiti 5K.

As you may recall from our 2012 holiday card, Simantel has been a longtime supporter of this local nonprofit organization, whose mission is to provide essential health care services for thousands of impoverished patients in Haiti. Outside of the office, our team also lends a helping hand—including Creative Director Chris Moehn, who volunteered his time to design the creative materials for the upcoming 5K.

Simantel Public Relations Manager Kathy Smith has already registered for the run, and is thrilled to know her $30 entry fee goes directly to a good cause. She’s equally excited for the race T-shirt, which dons a cool graphic developed by her coworker, Chris.

Regardless of the race perks (cool swag, fun after party), Simantel hopes you’ll join many of us on Peoria’s riverfront Friday, May 3, to support a great cause and for a chance to run with friends. To learn more about the race and to register, visit fotcoh.org or click here.
